Dr. Sayoko Moroi, MD, PhD, is a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Dept. of Pathology. She completed her internship at Duke University Medical Center, ophthalmology residency at Duke Eye Center, and clinical glaucoma fellowship at the University of Michigan. As a clinician-scientist, she received the first NEI K08 at the University of Michigan, and has been involved in numerous NIH/NEI, NIA, NSF grants, foundation grants, and industry-sponsored FDA glaucoma trials. Returning to the University of Michigan after 25 years, she now serves as the first female chair in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. Dr. Moroi's diverse research portfolio includes genetics, glaucoma, cataract outcomes, precision medicine for eye health, technology and vision enhancement, vision health's impact on mobility and cognitive function, and women’s health.
